Briefings

Brazil's state budget lacks a revenue estimate for privatizing 49.9% of TAP, despite the winning bidder announcement scheduled for next week. The executive maintains the practice of not disclosing capital sale values, only referring to the process. The budget report states that after restructuring in 2027, the first privatization phase will close in 2026, selling 44.9% to a selected investor and up to 5% to workers. This revenue does not count toward the budget balance. The Air France-KLM and Lufthansa proposals were finalized on October 30 and are under government review, with a decision expected in the Council of Ministers on October 14. The process is expected to conclude in 2027 after final negotiations and regulatory approvals, including from the European Commission.

Key points

• The Air France-KLM and Lufthansa proposals were finalized on October 30 and are under government review, with a decision expected in the Council of Ministers on October 14.
