Briefings
The UltraText Bench introduces a new bilingual benchmark for evaluating image generation's ability to render dense visual text across 24 real-world scenes. It features 432 prompts with four to twelve text regions per image, split between English and Chinese. The Q-Judger model assesses text fidelity, clarity, and spatial quality across 24 model configurations, revealing significant performance variations. Ten human participants evaluated the automatic scores, and the dataset is available via a GitHub repository.
Key points
- The UltraText Bench introduces a bilingual benchmark for evaluating image generation's ability to render dense visual text across 24 real-world scenes.
- It features 432 prompts with four to twelve text regions per image, split between English and Chinese, assessed using the Q-Judger model.
Context
This benchmark addresses the need for sustained performance evaluation as short-string rendering improves, testing dense text across multiple regions. It provides structured references for content, placement, and visual attributes, enabling precise measurement of text rendering capabilities in image generation models.
Limitations
Evaluation relies on human review of ten participants' scores, which may introduce subjectivity. Performance metrics vary by model configuration and workload, with specific data points like Qwen-Image-2512's English composite score varying from 86.50 to 42.86. The dataset is limited to 24 scene categories and three difficulty levels, and specific text strings for some regions are not fully disclosed.
