Briefings

Two 16-meter tall separator-superheaters weighing 95 tonnes have been installed in the BREST-OD-300 turbine hall for the lead-cooled fast neutron reactor. This installation represents a critical step in the reactor's construction, with the project expected to begin operation in 2027. The evidence confirms the physical presence of these components at their designated locations, but does not specify the reactor's operational status, the specific reactor core configuration, or the timeline for the next phase of construction beyond the 2027 start date.

Key points

• Two separator-superheaters, each 16 metres tall and weighing 95 tonnes, have been installed in their design positions for the innovative lead-cooled BREST-OD-300 fast neutron reactor.
• The project is expected to begin operation in 2027, though the specific reactor core configuration and the reactor's current operational status remain unknown.

Context

The BREST-OD-300 is a lead-cooled fast neutron reactor under construction. The installation of these two separator-superheaters is a key milestone in the reactor's physical build-out, though the specific reactor core configuration and the reactor's current operational status remain unknown.

Limitations

The evidence confirms the physical presence of two 16-meter tall separator-superheaters weighing 95 tonnes at their design positions. It does not specify the reactor's operational status, the specific reactor core configuration, or the timeline for the next phase of construction beyond the 2027 start date.
