Briefings
BTQ Technologies' MIMIQ quantum emulator, developed by subsidiary QPerfect, is now accessible via qBraid's managed API, allowing developers to simulate circuits with thousands of qubits and millions of gates. This integration enables testing of algorithms and error correction protocols at scale without requiring separate infrastructure, addressing the memory wall limitations of standard state-vector simulators. The collaboration brings this capability to over 35,000 qBraid developers, supporting the transition from research to practical quantum applications.
Key points
- MIMIQ combines state-vector emulation with Matrix Product State (MPS) techniques to simulate circuits involving thousands of qubits and millions of gates.
- The integration allows developers to validate algorithms and test error correction protocols at scale using qBraid's managed API without setting up separate MIMIQ infrastructure.
Context
MIMIQ is developed by BTQ Technologies' subsidiary QPerfect and is now available through qBraid's managed API. qBraid serves as the official development platform for MIT's iQuHACK, providing access to quantum devices and simulators for its developer community of over 35,000 users.
Limitations
Simulation capabilities are limited by the method used, specifically the Matrix Product State (MPS) approach which cannot simulate entanglement beyond a certain threshold. The evidence does not specify the exact number of gates or qubits that can be simulated, only that thousands and millions are possible. The source is a press release from November 2026, and specific performance metrics or error rates are not provided.
