Briefings

Following EA's shutdown of BioWare, a leaked trailer for the canceled Mass Effect 5 was published on Reddit, featuring in-engine footage and pre-production assets. The video depicts an ex-soldier interacting with an Asari character in a bar, with a flashback to a modern-day gameplay scene resembling the original trilogy. Despite the leak, the game was officially canceled, and the trailer's authenticity remains unverified.

Key points

• EA shut down BioWare and canceled the Mass Effect 5 game in development, yet a trailer featuring in-engine footage and pre-production assets was published on Reddit.
• The leaked video shows an ex-soldier conversing with an Asari character at a bar, including a flashback to a modern-day gameplay scene similar to the original trilogy.

Context

This finding is significant as it reveals a discrepancy between the official cancellation of the game and the public release of visual assets, raising questions about the leak's origin and the game's final status.

Limitations

The evidence is limited to a single Reddit post and a message describing the video's content. The authenticity of the leaked footage is unverified, and no further details about the leak's source or the game's final outcome are provided.
