Thai authorities deported four Uyghur men to China in 2025 despite pleas from the men and UN appeals, with activists fearing the process will continue. The deportation of two more men in late 2025 would place their lives in grave danger, with one reportedly describing the journey as 'like a slave.' The UN has stated the returnees' whereabouts remain unknown, and the US and Canada had reportedly offered to resettle them, but Bangkok appeared to prioritize avoiding pressure from Beijing.
