Briefings

Minister Castro Almeida argues public subsidies for companies must be directed toward sectors heavily dependent on fuel price hikes to minimize impact on consumers. This follows a government coalition agreement signed in Coimbra on October 23, 2026, where the Finance Minister emphasized that aid should target businesses where fuel costs represent a significant production expense, preventing price increases from reaching supermarket shelves. The government also directed family support measures, such as tax reductions and pension supplements, to citizens instead of fuel subsidies.
