Briefings
Samsung offers discounted P9 MicroSD Express cards for Nintendo Switch 2, with 256GB units available at $47.99 and 512GB at $99. These cards provide up to 800MB/s read speeds but only work with compatible devices. The 256GB version is priced below typical launch prices due to memory shortages, while 512GB costs $99. First-party Switch 2 games range from 10 to 30GB, with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake at 27GB.
Key points
- Samsung's P9 MicroSD Express card is discounted at multiple retailers, with the 256GB version going for $47.99 (Amazon, B&H Photo) and the 512GB version $99 (Amazon, B&H Photo).
- The P9 offers sequential read speeds of up to 800MB/s but only works with devices featuring a microSD USH-I slot, such as certain cameras, tablets, and drones.
Context
Nintendo Switch 2 storage needs are driven by first-party games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake at 27GB, with third-party games reaching up to 60GB. The P9 Express card is the primary solution for users needing more storage, though it requires specific hardware compatibility for maximum speed.
Limitations
Evidence covers only the 256GB and 512GB P9 Express card pricing and specifications. It does not include launch prices, retailer inventory status, or availability of other microSD card options for Switch 2.
