Briefings

Brazilian motorcycle production reached 1.645,034 units in the first nine months of 2026, marking the highest total since 2008 and the best September since 2011. The industry grew 10.4% year-over-year, driven by strong domestic demand and favorable export conditions, though September exports declined 8.2% compared to the prior year. Production forecasts for 2026 were revised upward to 2.1 million units, with 2.35 million expected to be sold domestically.

Key points

• Brazilian motorcycle production reached 1.645,034 units in the first nine months of 2026, marking the highest total since 2008 and the best September since 2011.
• Production grew 10.4% year-over-year, with 186,758 units produced in September alone, the best month since 2011 despite an 8.5% drop from August.

Context

The data comes from the Association of Brazilian Motorcycle Manufacturers (Abraciclo), which released the September 2026 report on October 13, 2026. The findings indicate a strong recovery in the Brazilian motorcycle sector, with production and sales hitting record levels domestically while exports faced a slight contraction in September.

Limitations

Data covers only the first nine months of 2026, with production and sales figures limited to the Polo Industrial de Manaus for the nine-month total. Export figures for September are based on comparative data from September 2025, and export projections for 2026 are estimates rather than confirmed final numbers.
