The Sindicato dos Trabalhadores dos Registos e do Notariado (STRN) demands the government reinvest surplus revenue from notary offices into hiring over 2,600 missing workers. The STRN notes the 2027 budget allocates 288 million euros to notaries, a 10 million euro increase over the previous year, while 42.5% of 552 million euros in revenue is diverted to other entities. The union argues this structural imbalance causes operational chaos and delays essential economic and social processes.
