Briefings

The 'The Next Generation of Health' conference at Fundação Champalimaud in Lisbon, organized by Médis and Grupo Ageas Portugal, concluded that extending life does not equal living better and emphasized the need to start prevention before disease appears. Key attendees included Isabel Vaz (Grupo Luz Saúde), Rui Diniz (CUF), Vasco Antunes Pereira (Lusíadas Saúde), Ana Povo (Secretaria de Estado da Saúde), Pedro Gouveia (Fundação Champalimaud), Tiago Taveira-Gomes, and Iñigo San-Millán. The event highlighted the tension between longevity and quality of life, the role of AI in early detection, and the necessity of physical activity from childhood. However, the evidence is limited to the conference proceedings and does not include broader national health data or long-term outcome studies.
