Briefings
Sigma announced the Sigma FP2, a compact full-frame mirrorless camera released on November 11, 2026, with a 6-gram weight increase over the original FP1. The new model features an improved sensor, an articulating LCD display, and extended battery life, though it remains the smallest full-frame shooter since the original launch. The camera is priced at $2,199 for the body and $2,749 with the EVF-21 viewfinder. The article notes that while the camera is compact, the weight increase suggests the 'world's smallest' claim is relative to body-only specifications.
Key points
- The Sigma FP2 was released on November 11, 2026, with an articulating LCD display and extended battery life.
- The new model weighs approximately 6 grams more than the original FP1, making it the smallest full-frame camera since the original launch.
Context
Sigma's FP2 represents a follow-up to the original FP1, which was the world's smallest and lightest full-frame mirrorless camera seven years prior. The new model includes significant upgrades like an improved sensor and a 5.76-inch EVF-21 viewfinder, though the weight increase means the 'world's smallest' designation is now body-only.
Limitations
The evidence is limited to a single article from October 2026. It does not provide specific weight measurements for the new sensor or battery life duration. The article does not confirm if the camera is truly the smallest full-frame shooter since the original launch, only that it is the smallest since the original FP1.
