Briefings
A proposal suggests a minimal compute-anchored purchasing power signal using an onchain game where participants post thresholds to incentivize breaking a hash game. The surviving reporter earns rewards funded by their liquidity, while breakers receive the remainder. The hypothesis is that comparing implied work per unit liquidity across time reveals changes in ETH value relative to computational cost. The smart contract is approximately 200 lines long and currently uses keccak256 hashing.
Key points
- The proposal outlines a game requester posting a reward to incentivize a purchasing power report, where anyone can report by posting a threshold and ETH liquidity to start a breaking game.
- The game ends when the timer expires, and the surviving reporter earns the reward while breakers receive the remainder, incentivizing competition to find thresholds that are difficult enough to protect liquidity.
Context
This proposal aims to create a trust-minimized onchain signal to measure ETH value versus computational cost. It builds on existing oracle designs by using economic incentives to discover hash prices, with the goal of comparing implied work across time to gauge purchasing power changes.
Limitations
The evidence is limited to the proposal text and a single smart contract snippet. It lacks data on actual liquidity flows, historical performance, or real-world adoption. The contract uses keccak256, and the hypothesis relies on unproven assumptions about ASIC development and oracle distortion.
