Briefings
Professor Jorge Bravo defended the timing of structural reforms to Portugal's Social Security system, arguing that immediate discussion is appropriate given macroeconomic and demographic challenges. He proposed faster reforms like the savings-to-consumption scheme, while criticizing the current system for providing insufficient protection, noting that 80% of pensioners receive less than 750 euros. The evidence is limited to a parliamentary hearing on October 14, 2026, where Bravo presented his arguments against privatization.
