Briefings
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman and U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright signed a Memorandum of Understanding on October 8, 2026, to accelerate American leadership in space nuclear power and propulsion. The agreement establishes a framework for end-to-end collaboration spanning advanced research, fuel production, testing, launch integration, and operations, with safety as the central pillar. The initiative aims to enable nuclear-powered spacecraft for deep-space exploration, including a lunar surface reactor by 2030 and operational nuclear propulsion for the SR-1 Freedom launch in 2028.
